Volleyball Downed in Tight Match by Dordt

CRETE, Neb. – Doane pushed Dordt in a competitive four-set GPAC matchup on Saturday afternoon, but the Defenders held strong for a 3-1 victory (25-20, 25-27, 25-23, 25-16).

The Tigers (12-12, 3-7 GPAC) battled through a tightly contested opening trio of sets, taking the second in extra points before Dordt pulled away in the fourth.

Doane hit .164 on the day, led by Natalie Wood's 13 kills and Brooke Larsen's 10 kills and 11 digs. Setter Camdyn Carpenter directed the offense with 41 assists, adding eight digs, two blocks, and a kill of her own. Addison Raebel and Kate Roseland provided balance at the net with seven and six kills, while Raebel led the team with five total blocks.

Defensively, Kaylee Rammell anchored the back row with 17 digs, and Chloe Rose added eight. The Tigers tallied 62 digs and seven team blocks in the effort.

For Dordt (15-6, 6-4 GPAC), Haley Kuperus paced the attack with 14 kills on .636 hitting, and setter Chloe Huisman distributed 24 assists alongside 14 digs.

The Tigers host nationally ranked Midland on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Haddix Center.
