Volleyball Drops Tough Pair at Home

Doane volleyball hosted a triangular on Saturday, taking on Dakota State and MidAmerica Nazarene. The Tigers were downed in both matches, falling to DSU, 3-1, and to MNU, 3-2. Doane is now 2-5 on the season.

Game scores against Dakota State were 17-25, 19-25, 25-10, 21-25. Taylor Sluka (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) led the team with 15 kills and four blocks. Jaime Renshaw (SR/Sioux Falls, S.D.) led the team with 33 assists, four ace serves, and 20 digs.

As a team, the Tigers hit .179 in the match with 44 kills while the Trojans hit .169 with 49 kills.

In the MidAmerica Nazarene match, game scores were 25-18, 25-17, 25-27, 17-25, 11-15. Doane hit .219 in the match with 60 kills while MNU hit .215 with 67 kills.

Kirsten Bures (SR/Odell, Neb.) finished with 14 kills, followed by Ally Wallace (SR/Franktown, Colo.) and Sluka with 11 kills apiece, and Cassidy Tompkin (SR/Clay Center, Neb.) with 10 kills. Renshaw dished out 47 assists to go with 11 digs. MacKenzie Painter (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) had a team-high 18 digs and two ace serves. Harper Case (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) collected 10 digs and two ace serves. Simonie Mendenhall (SR/Clancy, Mont.) led the team with five blocks.

Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Fremont to take on No. 5 Midland on August 31.
