Volleyball Rallies After Slow Start to Top Waldorf

Forest City, Iowa — The Doane Tigers overcame a sluggish opening set to storm back and earn a key GPAC road victory Friday night, defeating Waldorf 3–1 (14–25, 25–20, 26–24, 25–16). Doane improved to 5-0 all-time against the Warriors. The win pushes the Tigers to 12-9 overall and 3-4 in league play, while Waldorf drops to 8-7 and 0-7 in conference action.

Waldorf came out strong in the first set, capitalizing on early Tiger errors to build a quick lead en route to a decisive 25–14 win. But Doane quickly regrouped. Behind sharper attacking and steadier defense, the Tigers flipped momentum in the second set. Hitting .314 as a team, Doane evened the match with a 25–20 win.

The turning point came in the third. A back-and-forth battle saw both sides trading points deep into extra play, but clutch swings from Brooke Larsen and Kate Roseland erased two set points for Waldorf and sealed a 26–24 Tiger win. In the fourth, the Tigers left little doubt, racing out to a lead and holding Waldorf to just .029 hitting in a 25–16 clincher.

Larsen led all attackers with 16 kills, adding 15 digs and five blocks in a standout two-way performance. Natalie Wood was highly efficient on the outside, tallying 15 kills while hitting .342. Setter Camdyn Carpenter directed the offense with 40 assists and chipped in three service aces.

At the net, Roseland provided a huge boost with eight total blocks and eight kills. Defensively, libero Kaylee Rammell and defensive specialist Lillian Parolek anchored the back row with 15 and 10 digs, respectively, helping Doane collect 56 digs in a tightly contested match.

As a team, Doane hit .188 for the night with 47 kills and seven service aces. Waldorf finished with 43 kills and a .154 attack percentage but was stifled late by the Tigers' balanced block and back-row coverage.

The Tigers turn their attention to Saturday's matchup at Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa.
