Volleyball Snags Road Win Over Kansas Wesleyan

SALINA, Kan. - Doane University volleyball picked up a hard-fought road victory on Tuesday eveing, defeating Kansas Wesleyan 3–1 (25–16, 15–25, 25–23, 25–22) inside Mabee Arena. The Tigers leaned on strong defensive play and balanced offensive contributions to secure the non-conference win.

The Tigers came out sharp in the opening set, racing to a 25–16 win behind aggressive net play, strong serving, and an early blocking presence. Kansas Wesleyan regrouped quickly, evening the match with a 25–15 decision in the second. From there, Doane showed resilience, grinding out a pivotal 25–23 third-set win before closing the door in the fourth, 25–22.

Brooke Larsen spearheaded the Tiger attack with a match-high 18 kills while adding 19 digs to record an impressive double-double. At the net, Hilary Hupp was highly efficient, tallying 10 kills on just 12 swings for a .750 hitting percentage. Kate Roseland provided crucial balance with 11 kills and a team-leading seven blocks, often coming up with points in momentum-shifting moments.

Doane's ball control was steady thanks to Kaylee Rammell, who anchored the back row with 19 digs, and setter Camdyn Carpenter, who distributed the offense with 44 assists and added 10 digs. In total, the Tigers posted 68 digs and 9.0 team blocks, holding the Coyotes to a .156 hitting percentage.

While the Tigers' attack percentage dipped in the second set, Doane's defense allowed the group to recover late in the match. The team finished with 51 total kills compared to Kansas Wesleyan's 48, and the Tigers edged the Coyotes in total points, 64–56.

With the win, Doane improves to 11-9 on the season while KWU fell to 8-9. The Tigers picked up their first road win in a month and will look to carry momentum into a road trip weekend with their next conference matchups. First up will be Waldorf on Friday, October 3, in Forest City, Iowa.
