Rathbun Named CSC Academic All-American

CRETE, Neb. – Doane senior McKenna Rathbun has been selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® Second Team, becoming the program's first honoree in a decade and just the fourth in Doane women's soccer history.

A standout both on the field and in the classroom, Rathbun carries a 3.89 GPA while majoring in Elementary and Special Education, exemplifying the balance of athletic and academic excellence celebrated by CSC's prestigious national award.

Rathbun anchored the Tigers' defense throughout the 2025 campaign, starting all 19 matches and playing nearly every minute (1,661 total). She also demonstrated offensive flair from the back line, ranking among the team's leaders with eight goals, five assists, and 21 total points. Rathbun netted four game-winning goals and delivered standout performances in key conference matchups, including a five-point effort (1 goal, 3 assists) in a win over Waldorf and a pair of goals against Morningside.

Her strong two-way play helped Doane post five shutouts on the season while averaging fewer than one goal allowed per game in GPAC victories.

This marks Doane's first Academic All-America® selection in women's soccer since 2015, when forward Sarah Cushing earned the same distinction. Rathbun now joins Cushing, Kelsie Grgurich (2011, 2012), and Mary Kinney (2012) as the only Academic All-Americans in program history.

Rathbun was previously recognized as a CSC Academic All-District honoree and was a key leader for a Tiger team that reached new competitive milestones this fall. Her national recognition underscores both her consistency on the pitch and her commitment to excellence off it.

The Academic All-America® program, selected by College Sports Communicators, honors the nation's top student-athletes for combined academic and athletic performance across NCAA Divisions I–III and the NAIA.
