Women's Basketball Pulls Away with 34-Point Win

CRETE, Neb. – The Doane Women's Basketball team used a decisive third quarter to pull away from Midland and earned a 95-61 GPAC win on Saturday afternoon inside the Haddix Center.

Doane (13-14, 10-12 GPAC) took a 48-38 advantage into halftime before putting the game out of reach with a dominant 33-9 third quarter to open up an 81-47 lead heading into the final period. The Tigers led by as many as 44 points in the fourth.

Four Tigers scored in double figures, led by Keeleigh Knobbe with 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting while adding three steals. Mattea Kassebaum finished with 20 points, three assists, and three steals, and Rylie Rice matched her with 20 points, highlighted by six made three-pointers. Megan Chambers posted a strong all-around line of 14 points and 11 rebounds, adding two blocks for a double-double.

Doane shot 53.4% (31-of-58) from the field and connected on 10-of-16 (62.5%) from three-point range, while going 23-of-29 at the free-throw line. The Tigers also turned defense into offense, scoring 23 points off 20 Midland turnovers.

Midland (3-25, 2-20 GPAC) was paced by Addy Offutt with 21 points. Ellie Bovaird recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Ciera Jorge added 11 points and Allie Hakimzadeh chipped in 10. Midland hit 10 three-pointers in the contest but was limited to 35.1% shooting overall.
