Women's Cross Country Third in Preseason GPAC Poll
The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced the Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Poll this week and the Tiger women were chosen to finish third this season. Dordt was named the preseason favorite with Saint Mary edging out the Tigers for second place by one point.
Doane returns all of their top runners from a year ago including NAIA national qualifiers Calla Wittland and Danie Parriott. The Tigers placed third in the conference meet a year ago with 88 team points and the top five finishers placing in the Top 30 of the race.
Dordt is scheduled to return their top five runners, all of whom placed in the Top 6 of the GPAC race. If all of last year's competitors in the GPAC race return to their schools, the Top 15 finishers will be back again this year, which could create another exciting championship meet at Mahoney State Park in November.
The remainder of the poll went as follows: 4. Concordia, 5. Northwestern, 6. Morningside, 7. Hastings, 8. Midland, 9. Mount Marty, 10. Waldorf, 11. Briar Cliff, and 12. Dakota Wesleyan.
