Volleyball Wins Third Straight in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Doane University volleyball team powered past Southern University at New Orleans on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-23, 25-15) to close out play in New Orleans.

The Tigers opened strong, taking the first set 25-19 behind timely kills from Natalie Wood and Brooke Larsen. Doane edged out a tight 25-23 battle in the second set before closing the match with a dominant 25-15 performance in the third.

Wood led the offensive charge with 14 kills on .306 hitting, while Brinkley McAdams added eight kills and nine digs for a well-rounded effort. Setter Ashleigh Kirkendall distributed 24 assists and chipped in three kills, while libero Kaylee Rammell anchored the defense with 22 digs.

Doane finished the match with 40 kills, five service aces, and four blocks while hitting .231 as a team. The Tigers' back row shined, recording 58 digs to stifle SUNO's attack. The Knights were limited to a .068 hitting percentage and committed 20 attack errors.

With the win, Doane improved to 5-3 on the season, while SUNO dropped to 0-4.

The Tigers continue their non-conference slate next week when they make their home debut on Wednesday, September 3, at 6 PM against Saint Mary (Kan.).
