Women's Track and Field Repeats as GPAC Outdoor Champs
FREMONT, Neb. — Doane women's track and field turned in a dominant two-day performance to win the 2026 GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship, scoring 250.5 points May 1-2 at Midland.
The Tigers finished well ahead of runner-up Dordt, which scored 194 points. Concordia placed third with 139 points.
Doane won nine events and piled up points across sprints, relays, jumps, throws and the heptathlon.
The Tigers were especially dominant in the sprints. Neryah Hekl won the 100 meters in 11.86 seconds, leading a 1-2-3-4 Doane finish with Tania Gleason second in 11.88, RaeAnn Thompson third in 11.95 and Elizabeth Wemhoff fourth in 12.00. Kat Vogt won the 200 meters in 24.18, just ahead of Gleason in 24.19, while Wemhoff added a third-place finish in 24.46. Vogt also captured the 400 meters in 54.35, hitting the NAIA "A" standard.
Doane added a relay title in the 4x100, as Thompson, Gleason, Wemhoff and Hekl ran 45.88 to win with an NAIA "A" mark. The Tigers were second in the 4x400 relay, with Vogt, Jayden Meyer, Kiley Hejtmanek and Gleason clocking 3:47.88, also meeting the NAIA "A" standard.
The field events provided another major boost. Kyla Davis won the triple jump at 11.71 meters, with Meyer second at 11.70. Madison Heusinkvelt won the shot put with an NAIA "B" mark of 13.82 meters, leading a 1-2-4-5 Doane finish that included Delaney Burge, Paige Bull and Payton Cast.
Bull added a discus title with a throw of 44.30 meters, while Grace Dean placed sixth and Kallie Sutton seventh. In the javelin, Doane swept the top three spots and placed five in the top seven. Addison Fahrnbruch won with a mark of 40.07 meters, followed by Heusinkvelt in second and Sutton in third.
Chaney Nelson added a championship in the heptathlon with 4,556 points and also placed sixth in the 400 hurdles. Dayle Haake added three team points with a sixth-place finish in the heptathlon.
Doane also received points from Danie Parriott in the 800 meters, Laura Hasemann in the 1,500, Josie Garrett in the 100 hurdles and triple jump, Kayley Thompson, Kara Kudlacz and Katelynn Kratz in the high jump, Avery Scott and Kennedy Stanley in the pole vault, Fahrnbruch and Rosalyn Roggasch in the long jump, and Mia Knigge and Kaylie Lotspeich in the hammer.
The conference title capped a complete team effort for the Tigers, who scored in nearly every event area and used their depth to separate from the field.
