Records Fall in Lead Up to GPAC Championships
SEWARD, Neb. — Doane Women's Track & Field stacked event titles and national-qualifying marks on Saturday at the 2026 Concordia Invite inside Bulldog Fieldhouse in Seward, Nebraska, highlighted by a dominant sprint double from senior Tania Gleason and a meet-winning performance in the weight throw from senior Mia Knigge.
Gleason delivered one of the top all-around days of the meet, winning the 60 meters in 7.51 (NAIA "A") after posting a 7.61 (NAIA "B") in prelims, and coming back to capture the 200 meters in a school-record 24.48 (NAIA "A"). Fellow Tigers Elizabeth Wemhoff and Kat Vogt made it a Doane sweep in the 200, finishing second (24.64) and third (24.72)—both with NAIA "A" standards—while Wemhoff added runner-up honors in the 60 at 7.80.
Vogt added another meet title for Doane by winning the 400 meters in a school record 54.73 (NAIA "A"), while Kiley Hejtmanek placed third in 59.19. In the middle distances, freshman Jayden Meyer won the 600 in 1:37.60, and Doane also picked up key performances in the 800 as Maddy Ramey (2:25.17), Laura Hasemann (2:27.15) and Marissa Miles (2:27.60) all finished among the top seven.
Doane's field group delivered multiple highlights. Knigge won the weight throw with a mark of 17.18m (NAIA "B"), and the Tigers added depth behind her with Kaylie Lotspeich (15.99m), Trinity Becher (15.70m), Paige Bull (14.06m) and Ashley Dierks (13.60m). In the pole vault, Doane went 1-2 as Kennedy Stanley and Avery Scott each cleared 3.73m (NAIA "A") to lead the field.
Meyer also produced a major jump in the horizontal events, placing second in the triple jump at 11.61m (NAIA "B"). Josie Garrett followed closely in fourth (11.45m) and then earned a second-place finish on the track by taking runner-up in the 60 hurdles in 8.87. Madison Heusinkvelt added another NAIA mark in the throws, placing third in the shot put with a 13.55m effort (NAIA "B") as Doane put four athletes in the top six of the event.
The Tigers will compete in the GPAC Championships next week on February 20-21 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
