Purizaca Named GPAC Player of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following tennis players-of-the-week for April 6-12, 2026.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2025-2026 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Women's Tennis – Maria Purizaca, Doane University
Maria Purizaca of Doane University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Purizaca, a junior from Lima, Peru, picked up three big wins in singles play on the week. She opened the week with a straight-set win over Callista Uchil of Saint Mary (3-1 record after the match) followed by a win over Matilde Di Martino of Northwestern (14-5). Purizaca capped the week with an upset of NAIA #3 Line Jensen of Morningside (27-3) in three sets. She teamed with Liz Calderon to go 2-1 on the week, posting a 6-4 win over NAIA #8 Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall of Morningside.
