MOBILE, Ala. — The Doane women's tennis team dropped the opening match of a Monday doubleheader, falling 6-1 to Mobile at the Mobile Tennis Center.

Mobile claimed the early advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches to take the team point. The closest contest came at No. 1 doubles where Maria Purizaca and Liz Calderon battled before falling 7-5 to Tara Zivic and Emily Grubach.

In singles play, Purizaca earned Doane's lone victory of the match with a hard-fought win at No. 1 singles. After cruising through the opening set 6-0, Purizaca dropped the second set 7-5 before rebounding in the match tiebreaker to secure a 10-7 victory over Karolina Mrowiecova.
