COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — The Doane women's golf team turned in a strong two-day performance to finish second at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate, held April 20-21 at Bent Tree Golf Club.
Doane posted a 36-hole total of 667 (338-329), improving by nine strokes on the final day to secure the runner-up position in the seven-team field. Iowa Western Community College claimed the team title with a 641, while Saint Mary (Neb.) finished third at 680.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Connie Jarm, who earned a tie for third place individually with a two-round score of 162 (81-81). Jarm's consistent play across both rounds helped anchor Doane's lineup against a competitive field.
Jamisyn Kirkpatrick followed with a sixth-place tie, carding a 166 (84-82) and shaving two strokes off her opening round score. Payton Morgan added a tie for 11th finish at 169 (84-85), while Laila Saunders placed 13th overall with a 172 (89-83), improving by six shots on day two.
Rounding out the team scoring, Avery Van Horn tied for 14th at 174 (91-83), delivering one of the biggest improvements of the tournament with an eight-stroke drop between rounds.
Competing as an individual, Kaitlyn Dumler posted a 79 in her lone round of play.
As a team, Doane showed marked progress from day one to day two, trimming nine strokes off its total and placing three golfers inside the top 11. The performance continues a strong spring stretch for the Tigers as they prepare for postseason competition.
