Women's Golf Wins at Tatanka GC with Record Performance

NIOBRARA, Neb. - Doane Women's Golf played in the Mount Marty Invite on Monday and Tuesday at Tatanka G.C. The tournament was a record setting event for the Tigers as they set the team record for single round and 36-hole scores as well as the individual 36-hole record. Par for the tournament was 72.

Doane won the team championship with a 609 (304-305). Their 36-hole score topped the previous record set a year ago by 11 strokes. Both rounds topped the previous single round record, with the first round besting last year's mark by four strokes.

Laila Saunders and Kaitlyn Dumler tied for second to pace the Tigers with a 150 each, breaking the 36-hole record by one stroke. Saunders posted scores of 73-77, with her first round tying the single round record for the Tigers. She led the tournament with 25 pars made. Dumler recorded scores of 76-74 and tied for the tournament lead with six birdies made.

Tia Phaisan tied for fifth with a 154 (75-79), finishing third in pars made with 22. Avery Van Horn tied for eighth with a 156 (81-75) and Connie Jarm placed 12th with a 160 (80-80). Jarm matched Dumler with six birdies in the tournament.

Playing under individual status, Payton Morgan recorded a 155 (77-78) to place seventh. Jamisyn Kirkpatrick finished 13th with a 162 (81-81).

A total of 39 golfers participated in the meet with Dakota Wesleyan's Allison Meyerink taking medalist honors with a 149 (77-72).

The Tigers will head to Fremont for their next outing, competing in the Nebraska Intercollegiate on October 6-7 at Fremont G.C.
