Men's Wrestling Crowns Three Champions

CRETE, Neb. — Doane University men's wrestling delivered a strong overall showing at the Conner/Oppenheim Doane Open, highlighted by three individual champions and multiple podium finishes across both open and amateur divisions.

The Tigers were headlined by three bracket championsBen Miller (157), Tyson Beauperthuy (184), and Jaren Jackson (197)—each turning in dominant performances.

Miller powered through the 157-pound bracket with bonus-point wins in his first three matches, earning two falls and a tech fall before defeating a nationally ranked opponent, No. 12 Josey Jernegan of Saint Mary, in a thrilling 12-10 decision to secure the title.

Top-ranked Beauperthuy was nearly untouchable at 184 pounds, posting three tech falls and a pin on his way to the championship. He claimed the title following an injury default (was leading 11-1) in the finals, completing a day in which he outscored his opponents by a combined 107–25.

Jackson added another title at 197 pounds, opening with a fall, advancing via medical forfeit, and pinning teammate Chase Stieb in the semifinals. He secured gold with an early second-period fall over No. 18 Donivan Giangregorio of Dickinson State.

Doane's depth was on display with several additional placewinners. Matthew Terrence (133) battled back for a fourth-place finish, recording five wins—including two falls—and a victory over a ranked opponent in consolation action. Stieb also placed fourth at 197 pounds behind two tech falls and a gritty consolation win over Grand View's Elijah Davis.

In the amateur division, Grayson Hagen (165) placed third after earning four wins, three of them by fall. Colton McCutcheon (285) collected a fourth-place finish with three pins and a major decision, while Elias Timms (285) reached the semifinals with back-to-back pins earlier in the day.
