Men's Track and Field Compete at Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. – Doane men's track and field turned in several strong performances at the Prairie Wolf Invite on Friday, April 24, hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln.

The Tigers were led by a pair of event wins in the throws and javelin. Andrew Englund won the discus with a throw of 49.34 meters (161-10), while teammate Jaden Vollenweider followed in second at 48.83 meters (160-2). Cohen Rohde added a fifth-place finish at 46.09 meters (151-2), and DaMarcus Cannon placed sixth at 46.05 meters (151-1).

Ryland Garretson added another event title for Doane in the javelin, winning with a mark of 50.95 meters (167-2). Cale Suckstorf also competed in the event and placed seventh at 36.13 meters (118-6).

Doane also had a strong day in the high jump as Jackson Kessler placed second after clearing 2.04 meters (6-8.25). Maddox Wagoner took third at 1.99 meters (6-6.25), while Presston Duryea and Bladyn Herrick both cleared 1.89 meters (6-2.25).

In the hammer throw, Tad Dimmitt hit the NAIA "B" standard with a toss of 54.83 meters (179-11), placing fourth overall. Vollenweider added a seventh-place mark of 53.55 meters (175-8), while Colton Dillon was ninth at 51.75 meters (169-9). Dimmitt also finished sixth in the shot put at 14.91 meters (48-11), while Andrew Schmitz placed third at 15.92 meters (52-2.75) and Dillon was fourth at 15.54 meters (51-0).

Michael Willey led the Tigers in the long jump with a runner-up finish of 6.83 meters (22-5). Wagoner placed fourth at 6.69 meters (21-11.5), Asher Watson was fifth at 6.61 meters (21-8.25), and Zebediah Black added a ninth-place mark of 6.29 meters (20-7.75). Ridge Bredthauer placed third in the triple jump at 12.89 meters (42-3.5), while Sawyer Tietgen was sixth and Black finished seventh.

On the track, Tommy Smith placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.60 seconds. Zachary Fox led Doane in the 400-meter hurdles, taking fourth in 56.48, while Carter Niles was eighth and Creighton Beals ninth. In the 800 meters, Alex Fowler placed sixth in 1:58.08, followed closely by Eli Marez in seventh at 1:58.28.

Doane's 4x400 relay team of Lincoln Konrad, Marez, Lucas Gautier and Dakota Miser placed third with a time of 3:23.29. Konrad also led the Tigers in the open 400 meters, placing 10th in 50.56, while Jaiden Gonzalez finished fifth in the 200 meters in 22.56.
