Schmitz Named GPAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following men's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for events held February 2-8, 2026. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2025-2026 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Field Events – Andrew Schmitz, Doane University

Andrew Schmitz from Doane University is this week's field athlete-of-the-week.  Schmitz, a senior from Papillion, Nebraska, won a pair of events on the weekend in the throws. In the seeded shot put, he matched his personal-best mark with a throw of 16.02m (52-06.75). In the seeded weight throw, Schmitz hit a winning throw of 17.90m (58-08.75). Both marks met the NAIA provisional qualifying standard and were season-best throws.
