Men's Tennis Snags Win from Missouri Valley

FREMONT, Neb. – The Doane men's tennis team secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Missouri Valley on Saturday afternoon, rallying behind key doubles momentum and clutch performances in singles play to claim the narrow dual win.

The Tigers earned the critical doubles point, winning two of three matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles competition.

At No. 2 doubles, Diego Infante and Elliot Dassel battled through a tight contest to defeat Bogdan Zakharov and Luca Stadtfeld, 7-6 (7-4), in a match that swung the early momentum in Doane's favor. The Tigers also picked up a strong showing at No. 3 doubles as Andre Hartman and Miles Mollring controlled play in a 6-2 victory over David Schlageter and Pablo Perez.

Missouri Valley claimed the No. 1 doubles match, 7-5, but Doane's two wins proved decisive in earning the opening point.

In singles play, the Tigers captured three matches to secure the team victory.

At No. 1 singles, Mats Vervloet delivered a composed performance, defeating Alexander Ballinger 7-5, 6-3 to extend Doane's lead. Infante added another pivotal point at No. 2 singles, overcoming Guiherme Silva in a competitive battle, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), showcasing resilience in the second-set tiebreak.

Hartman sealed Doane's fourth and deciding point at No. 6 singles, earning a straight-sets win over Vicente Leigh, 6-4, 6-4.

Missouri Valley picked up victories at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles, but Doane's early doubles edge and wins from Vervloet, Infante, and Hartman proved enough to hold off the Vikings.
