Jelicich Scores Twice as Men's Soccer Ties Dordt

CRETE, Neb. - The Doane University men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2–2 draw on the road against Dordt on Saturday afternoon at the Defender Soccer Complex. Forward Mateo Jelicich delivered both goals for the Tigers, marking his second multi-goal performance of the season.

Doane (2-8-4, 1-3-4 GPAC) struck early when Jelicich found the back of the net in the 12th minute off a rebounded shot attempt from Nicolas Jones, giving the Tigers a 1–0 advantage that held through halftime. The second half brought more fireworks as Jelicich doubled the lead in the 63rd minute, finishing a setup from Kai Goodman to make it 2–0.

However, Dordt (4-5-6, 1-3-4 GPAC) rallied late behind Anton Forsch, who scored in the 66th and 84th minutes to pull the Defenders even. Despite the momentum shift, Doane's defense held firm in the closing minutes to preserve the draw.

In goal, Curtis Oberg recorded three first-half saves before Simon Aponte Morales added two stops in relief. The Tigers totaled 12 shots—10 on target—while Dordt registered 18 shots, including 10 on goal.

The result marks Doane's fourth draw in conference play as the Tigers continue to work towards qualifying for the postseason.

Doane returns home to Papik Field next Saturday to face Morningside in another key GPAC matchup. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. and following the game, Doane will recognize their seniors.
