Men's Soccer Schedule Released for 2018
The Doane Men's Soccer team begins their 2018 season with four non-conference road games. The Tigers are coming off a 5-13-1 record with a 3-5-1 conference mark. Doane's first game of the season is August 17 at Bellevue University.
The Tigers go to York College on August 21. Doane leads the all-time series with the Panthers, taking eight of 10 meetings. Sterling College will host the Tigers on August 25. The Warriors and Tigers have met one time, in 2006, with Sterling claiming a 4-2 victory.
Doane will play their fourth consecutive away game on September 1 in Lamoni, Iowa, against Graceland University. This is the Tigers final game before conference play begins.
The Tigers will play their home opener on September 19 against Midland University. In the last six meetings, three games between Doane and Midland have ended in overtime with the Tigers holding a 2-0-1 mark in those games.
On September 22, Doane will travel to Sioux Center, Iowa, to take on Dordt College. In their last 10 meetings, the Tigers have defeated the Defenders eight times and tied once.
The Tigers will face the 2017 GPAC champion, Hastings College, on September 26 in Hastings. The Broncos have won outright or shared every GPAC championship since the conference formed in 2000 and finished last year ranked 11th nationally.
Doane returns home for a match on September 29 against Northwestern College at 3:15 PM. The Tigers will look to avenge a loss to the Red Raiders in the Quarterfinals of the GPAC Tournament to end their 2017 season.
On October 4 during Homecoming Week, Morningside College will travel to Crete. The Tigers lost to the Mustangs by one goal last season, 2-1, however Doane continues to lead in the all-time series, 10-8-1.
A road trip to Briar Cliff on October 6 is sandwiched between home contests. Last season, the teams played 110 minutes and ended in a 1-1 tie on the Doane field.
Concordia University, who received votes in the final national poll, will take on the Tigers at Al Papik Field on October 10. The last 14 meetings have ended either in a tie or with a one-goal difference with nine overtime finishes.
This season, there are two additions to the conference schedule. The University of Jamestown will officially be a member of the GPAC and Presentation College joins the GPAC as an affiliate member in Men's and Women's Soccer. Doane will host both of these match-ups, Jamestown on October 13 and Presentation on October 14.
On October 20, Doane will take on Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D. Last season, Doane shutout Dakota Wesleyan, 2-0, in Crete, one of three shutouts in 2017.
Doane will return home to conclude their regular season schedule on October 27 against Mount Marty College at 7:15 PM. The Tigers and Lancers first met when the GPAC formed in 2000 and Doane has claimed victory in all 18 meetings. Prior to the game, Doane will honor their senior players on Senior Night.
