Men's Golf Places Three on All-GPAC List

CRETE, Neb. - Doane men's golf placed three student-athletes on the All-GPAC team following the 2025-26 season, with junior Joshua Wassmer and sophomore Heidar Bjarnason earning Second Team honors and senior Cauy Walters collecting honorable mention.

Wassmer and Bjarnason paced a Doane lineup that competed in 12 varsity events during the season, while Walters provided steady scoring throughout the year as the Tigers recorded a team scoring average of 300.27 and produced a tournament championship at the Blue River Classic along with six top-three finishes.

Wassmer, a veteran presence in the Tiger lineup, earned Second Team All-GPAC honors after appearing in all 12 varsity events and totaling 30 rounds. He posted a 75.40 scoring average with a season-low round of 66, the best individual round by a Tiger during the year. Wassmer registered four top-10 finishes, including one top-five effort, and finished the season at +4 relative to par. Across his career, he has competed in 77 rounds with a 75.95 scoring average.

Bjarnason also landed on the Second Team after a strong first season with the Tigers, joining the team in the second semester. Competing in 15 rounds across six events, he finished with the team's lowest scoring average at 75.00 while carding a low round of 70. Bjarnason turned in three top-10 finishes and two top-five performances, consistently providing Doane with a dependable score in tournament play.

Walters earned honorable mention recognition after competing in all 12 varsity events and tying for the team lead with 30 rounds played. Walters posted a 75.80 scoring average and recorded the lowest round on the roster with a 65. He added three top-10 finishes and one top-five showing while finishing the season at +4 relative to par. 

As a team, Doane opened the year with a third-place finish at the Mount Marty Invite before winning the Blue River Classic with a six-under-par 858, one of the top performances of the season. The Tigers added runner-up finishes at the Nebraska Intercollegiate and Bethel Spring Invite while recording third-place finishes at the Doane Spring Invite and Howl at the Hill. Doane closed the season with a fifth-place finish at the GPAC Championships.
