Men's Golf Notches School Record to Place Second
LINCOLN, Neb. - Doane Men's Golf co-hosted the Blue River Classic on Wednesday and Thursday in Lincoln at Highlands GC. With 16 teams scored and 87 players competing, the Tigers posted a second place finish with the "A" team and three Top 10 individual placements.
The "A" team posted a school record 858 (285-286-287), topping the previous 54-hole score set in 2022 at the Blue River Classic by three strokes. Toby Knevett led the way with a 6th place finish and score of 213 (70-67-76). His second round score was three shots off the school record. Carson Kildow placed 7th with a score of 214 (74-70-70). Cauy Walters placed 10th with a 217 (75-74-68). Matt McConkey finished with a 220 (68-77-75) and tied for 12th. Joshua Wassmer tied for 20th with a 222 (73-75-74).
The "B" team placed fourth with a team score of 893 (305-299-289). Embree Stutsman led the team with a 220 (74-72-74) and tied for 12th. Jax Loh tied for 16th with a 221 (75-76-70). Ben Kottmeyer tied for 28th with a 225 (80-76-69). Jarett Moriarity posted a 231 (76-78-77) and tied for 36th. Brock Heusinkvelt notched a 234 (83-75-76) and tied for 39th.
Placing 11th was the "C" team with a 956 (312-324-320). Brock Olivo led the team with a 237 (80-75-82) and tied for 48th. Elijah Miller placed 53rd with a 238 (73-88-77). Josh Reeves tied for 57th with a 242 (81-81-80), matched by teammate Jaime Palá with a 242 (78-83-81). Mathis Fortin placed 71st with a 252 (82-85-85).
The Tiger "D" team placed 15th with a 995 (336-333-326). Brady Haake shot a 242 (84-80-78) and tied for 57th. Trey Pulte tied for 62nd with a 243 (83-82-78). Rylan Patterson placed 70th with a 251 (85-81-85). Jake Dane shot a 259 (84-90-85) and tied for 77th.
Playing under individual status, Tyson Essex tied for 77th with a 259 (90-86-83). Daniel Cook placed 83rd with a 273 (97-88-88) and Luke Mathews posted a 278 (91-98-89) and finished 84th.
Doane will head north for their next competition, competing at the Siouxland Invite on September 8-9 in Iowa.
