Hrabik Lights Up Broncos for 32 Points in Men's Basketball Win

Doane Men's Basketball took on Hastings Wednesday evening in Lynn Farrell Arena, posting an 80-70 road victory. The win was an important one for the Tigers as they earned the season-split with the Broncos, currently holding the tie-break, and moving a game ahead entering the final five conference games.

Hastings took an early 7-2 lead only to see Doane rally behind the 3-point basket. Four of the Tigers' five made baskets over a three minute stretch came from behind the arc as Doane took a 16-12 lead. Caleb Hrabik had 11 of the 14 points to put the Tigers in front.

The lead favored the Tigers over the next 10 minutes of action before a 10-0 run by the Broncos in a 98-second stretch put Hastings up before the break. Hrabik hit a jumper to beat the buzzer to send Doane into halftime trailing by seven points, 40-33.

Hastings maintained the lead through the opening two minutes of the second half but would come up scoreless for the next eight and half minutes of play. During this time, Doane went on a 14-0 run to take an eight point lead, 52-44. The Broncos would snap the scoring drought with back-to-back baskets only to see Doane continue to stay hot as the Tigers pushed the lead to 13 points, 61-48. The closest Hastings would get the rest of the way was eight points as Doane made 14 free throws to close out the game.

Hrabik had a career day for the Tigers, posting 32 points on 10-of-12 shooting, including 6-of-7 from behind the arc. He added six free throws while pulling in five rebounds. Brady Timm finished with 19 points while Alec Oberhauser flirted with another triple-double, posting 11 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists.

The Tigers shot 56.5-percent from the floor and 45-percent from behind the arc. They were 19-of-25, 76-percent, from the free throw line.

Grady Corrigan finished with 19 points to lead Hastings and Phil Cisrow collected a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Doane will travel to Orange City, Iowa, on February 4, to take on Northwestern at 3:45 PM.
