Bulldogs Hot from 3-Point Range Downs Men's Basketball

Doane Men's Basketball took on Concordia on Thursday evening in Seward to close out the GPAC slate for 2022. The Tigers struck first only to have the Bulldogs answer with a 14-0 run to take a lead they would not relinquish in a 74-61 final score.

Nick Saiz hit a 3-point basket to open the game for the Tigers on their first possession. Four 3-point baskets and a layup for Concordia would give the Bulldogs a 14-3 advantage. Concordia would stay hot beyond the arc, as they shot 56-percent in the first half, going 10-of-18. The Bulldogs led at the break, 45-28.

Doane would trim the deficit to 10 points at the 7:27 mark to force a Concordia timeout. The Tigers were able to answer each Concordia basket but could not cut the deficit to single digits. A late 6-0 run would be enough to seal the game for Concordia.

Brady Timm led the Tigers with 21 points, hitting four 3-point baskets, and dishing out four assists. Alec Oberhauser added 14 points along with team-highs of nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Saiz finished with 14 points as well for the Tigers.

Doane shot 46.3-percent for the game (25-of-54) and 34.8-percent from 3-point range (8-of-23) while converting 3-of-5 at the free throw line. Concordia shot 49.1-percent from the floor (26-of-53) and hit a season-high 16 3-point baskets on 31 attempts (51.6-percent) while making 6-of-10 at the free throw line.

Tristan Smith led Concordia with 21 points and Noah Schutte added 19 points.

The Tigers head to the Sunshine State as they travel to Florida for games on December 19-20. Doane will face Fort Lauderdale in their first game at 3 PM on the 19th.
