Allen Snags 102 Net Yards at No. 20 Northwestern
Doane Football went on the road Saturday and posted a late offensive surge but couldn't overcome an early deficit in a 51–20 setback to No. 20-ranked Northwestern on Saturday afternoon at De Valois Stadium.
Northwestern opened fast behind quarterback Colby Duncan, who threw for five touchdowns and added another on the ground as the Red Raiders built a 37–0 halftime lead. Duncan connected on scoring strikes of 44, 47, 56, 53, and 15 yards, with Austyn Gerard hauling in two of them. A second-quarter safety and short touchdown run helped the hosts extend their advantage to 44–0 early in the third.
Despite the margin, the Tigers kept fighting and produced their best quarter of the season in the fourth. Sam Hartman led three straight scoring drives, finishing the day with 24 completions for 237 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score of his own. His 7-yard pass to Blake Allen capped an 81-yard drive to put Doane on the board. Later, Hartman connected with Andrew Waido from 8 yards out before punching in a 3-yard keeper in the final minutes.
Waido led all receivers with 11 catches for 99 yards and a touchdown, while Allen added 5 receptions for 54 yards and 48 rushing yards on the day. The Tigers' offense totaled 300 yards and held the ball for 35 minutes, scoring on all three of their red-zone trips.
Defensively, Reece Zutavern anchored the effort with seven tackles and a sack, while Tanner Simdorn forced a fumble and Ricardo Briones added an interception late in the fourth quarter.
Doane (1-8, 1-8 GPAC) will close out its 2025 season on the road next Saturday at Waldorf.
