Five Named to All-GPAC List for Football

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has released the 2023 Football All-Conference team and five Tigers were recognized for their efforts this season. Kelen Meyer, a junior from Ord, Nebraska, and Jarett Boggs, a sophomore from Fremont, Nebraska, were named First Team All-GPAC. David Garcia, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, received Second Team honors while Caleb Schnell, a freshman from Gretna, Nebraska, and Ty Martinsen, a senior from Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, were named honorable mention all-conference.

Meyer earned postseason honors for the second straight year at punter. He was a Second Team selection last year before taking the top team nod this season. He led the GPAC in punting average this year and sits fourth nationally with a 41.1 yards per punt average. He was second in the NAIA with 27 punts placed inside the 20-yard line and had a 74-yard punt earlier this year which tied for seventh longest in the NAIA.

Boggs led the Tigers in tackles this season from his linebacker position. He finished the regular season with the eighth-most tackles in the GPAC this year with 80 (34 solo). Boggs was ninth in the GPAC in tackles for loss with 12.0 and he added 3.0 sacks and a fumble recovery to his resume.

Garcia was a multi-position offensive lineman for the Tigers this year. He split snaps at center and at guard throughout the season. Garcia helped anchor an offensive line, playing in 10 of the team's 11 games. Doane averaged 25 more yards per game than last year and recorded more passing first downs behind Garcia's blocking.

Schnell is the first Tiger to be recognized at long snapper. The position was added to the All-GPAC list last season. He had nearly 100 snaps this year from the position between punting and placing kicking opportunities.

Martinsen was second on the team in tackles out of his linebacker position. He finished with 62 tackles (34 solo), including a career-high 14 tackles in the final game of the year as he was named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week. He had 5.0 tackles for loss, a sack, two forced fumbles, and an interception on the season.

The Tigers finished the year at 2-9 overall and 2-8 in the GPAC.
