Doane University is pleased to announce the recipients of the Pflieger/Olson GPAC Scholar-Athlete and Doane Scholar-Athlete awards for the 2016-17 academic year. The Pflieger/Olson GPAC Scholar-Athlete honor is awarded to student-athletes who were varsity members and maintain a cumulative 3.30 grade point average (GPA). Doane Scholar-Athletes are awarded to those who participated either on the junior varsity or varsity squad and have a cumulative 3.30 GPA. Additionally for both awards, a student-athlete must be a member of their program throughout the entire academic year in which they have eligibility.

This year's list includes 222 student-athletes. The list includes 22 student-athletes who posted GPAs over 3.90 and five that were at a 4.0. Of the honorees, 176 come from Nebraska and 10 apiece from California and Colorado. Lincoln produced the most scholar-athletes in Nebraska with 21 followed by Omaha with 14 and Crete with 10. Norfolk added nine recipients with the city of Papillion represented by seven student-athletes. There were nine sibling pairings that also made the list.
