Doane Softball placed four players on the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) post-season awards list for 2017. The Tigers had two players receive First Team honors with two receiving honorable mention accolades.

Receiving First Team honors were Heather Ramirez (SR/Covina, Calif.) and Kelsey Bernhardt (SR/Thornton, Colo.). Joining them on the honorable mention list were Nicole Fernandez (JR/San Diego, Calif.) and Jacquelyn Garza (SO/Redlands, Calif.).

Ramirez led the team this year with a .387 batting average and 30 runs batted in. She added six stolen bases. On defense, she had 102 putouts and 113 assists at second base. Ramirez was a four-time All-GPAC selection and twice made the First Team.

Bernhardt moved to catcher this year after picking up First Team honors a year ago in the outfield. She hit .365 on the season and tied for the team lead with 34 runs scored. Bernhardt added 14 stolen bases and posted a .990 fielding percentage with only two errors in 209 chances.

Fernandez hit .365 on the year and matched Bernhardt with 34 runs scored. She posted a GPAC-leading 22 steals this season and has 73 in her career in 76 attempts. Fernandez had 20 runs batted in and had 104 defensive assists.

Garza split time as the Tiger right fielder and designated player. She was second on the team with 24 runs batted in while hitting .322 for the year. Garza scored 23 runs with a .449 slugging percentage.
