Doane snapped a mini-losing streak with a win over Marymount California University on Wednesday. The Tigers would split with the Mariners, taking the opener, 4-2, before dropping game two, 6-4.

 

Game One Highlights

  • Doane rallied with three runs in the 5th inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit.
  • The Tigers scored a run in the 3rd inning to plate the first run of the game as Kelsey Bernhardt (SR/Thornton, Colo.) hit an inside the park home run.
  • Marymount came back with a run in the bottom of the 3rd and an unearned run in the 4th to take a 2-1 lead.
  • In the Tigers' 5th inning, Doane tied the game on a RBI-single by Lindsey Dietz (JR/Ventura, Calif.). Bernhardt drew a base loaded walk to take the lead and Heather Ramirez (SR/Covina, Calif.) hit a sacrifice fly for the final run.
  • Haileigh Arthur (SO/Sacramento, Calif. ) threw a complete game, six-hitter, to earn the win.
  • Doane had nine hits in the game, two from Nicole Fernandez (JR/San Diego, Calif.) and Dietz.
 

Game Two Highlights

  • Marymount put up four runs in the 2nd inning to take the lead and added two unearned runs in the 5th to account for their six runs in the game.
  • Doane scored two runs in the 3rd inning behind RBI-singles by Brittney Amezquita (JR/West Covina, Calif.) and Sam Valadez (SR/Covina, Calif.).
  • The Tigers added two runs in the 7th on a two-run single by Arthur.
  • Carly Shniderson (SO/Overland Park, Kan.) allowed four runs on five hits in two innings. Hannah Feagler (SO/Torrington, Wyo.) allowed two unearned runs on three hits in two innings. Breanna Hamilton (FR/Windsor, Colo.) threw two scoreless innings and struck out two batters.
  • The Tigers had 11 hits in the game with the top five batters in the order having two hits apiece.

  • Doane will take on No. 25 San Diego Christian University on March 9 to close out the California swing.
