Doane Dance and Cheer wrapped up their 2017 competitive season on Friday at the NAIA Northwest Regional held by Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan. The Tiger Dance team finished 8th overall while the Cheer team took 11th.


Dance Highlights

  • Final scores are tabulated using 25-percent of the prelim score and 75-percent of the final score.
  • The Tigers sat in 9th place after prelims, using a solid finals performance to jump Graceland after the finals round.
  • Doane finished with a team score of 54.54.
  • Doane was nearly 11 points better in their finals performance than the prelims.
  • The Tigers saw a significant improvement in their scores for the Hip Hop Technique category and Team Turns while also improving in Jazz Technique, Pom Technique and Technical Skills & Execution.
  • Midland won the team title in dance with a score of 89.88.

Cheer Highlights

  • Doane posted a team score of 47.03.
  • The Tigers had an injury to one of their athletes in prelim warm-ups resulting in a portion of the routine being performed on the ground instead of as a lift, which ultimately had a negative effect on the potential scoring.
  • Doane's best scoring category in both rounds came from Showmanship/General Impression.
