Midland used a 22-4 run late in the first half to change the tide as the Doane Men's Basketball team fell to the Warriors, 78-51, on Wednesday evening. Doane fell to 12-12 on the season with No. 11 Midland moving to 18-5.


Game Highlights

  • Midland jumped out to a 15-6 lead through the opening seven minutes. Doane countered with a 15-2 run for a 21-17 lead. The run was sparked by two 3-point baskets by Rylee Zimmerman (JR/Beatrice, Neb.) and one from Kyle Hart (FR/Urbandale, Iowa).
  • The Warriors followed with a 22-4 run to close the half and took a 39-25 lead into the locker room.
  • The teams went back and forth in the opening minutes. A 7-0 run by the Warriors put Midland up 24 points with nine minutes to play. Their largest lead was 29 points with three minutes left in the game.
  • Zimmerman was the leading scorer with 10 points for the Tigers, all in the first half. Nate Kuhl (SR/Tecumseh, Neb.) added nine points and led the way with six rebounds. Zimmerman also had a team-best three assists.

Up Next for the Tigers

  • Doane will travel to Sioux Center, Iowa, to take on Dordt on Saturday, January 28, at 4 PM. Doane won the first meeting earlier this year in Crete, 92-77.
