A 12-0 run in the 1st half was enough to lift Hastings over the men's basketball team on Wednesday evening in Crete, 86-69. The loss dropped the Tigers to 12-10 on the season with Hastings improving to 11-11.


Game Highlights

  • The two teams went back-and-forth early on before a three-point basket from Hastings broke a 17-all tie.
  • Doane pulled back to within two points, 24-22, following a three-point basket by Mykeil Tzul (SR/Queens, N.Y.). However, Hastings followed with a 12-0 run over a five minute span in the middle stages of the 1st half.
  • The Tigers responded with a 6-0 run on their next three possessions to pull back within eight points but they would not get any closer in the first half as they trailed 47-36 at the break.
  • The Broncos used a 15-7 run to open the second half to build their largest lead of 19 points, 62-43.
  • Doane began to chip into the lead over a four minute span by going on a 15-2 run and trim the deficit to 64-58 with 11 minutes to play.
  • With Doane trailing by seven points and five minutes to go, Hastings received a 3-point basket from Rich Williams to go up by double figures. The Broncos closed the game on a 14-4 run.
  • Rylee Zimmerman (JR/Beatrice, Neb.) had a team-high 15 points with Nate Kuhl (SR/Tecumseh, Neb.) adding 12 points and Reid Williams (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) finishing with 11 points. Connor Long (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) led the Tigers off the bench with 10 points.
  • Tzul and Kuhl led Doane with four assists apiece with Kuhl having a team-high six rebounds and two blocked shots.
  • Hastings received 27 points from Williams as he hit 5-of-9 from behind the arc. Bart Hiscock added 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
